Sensory Friendly Family Nights
Second Fridays of the Month through September 2023 from 4 pm-7 pm
Join us for Sensory Friendly Family Nights (on 2nd Fridays of the month), a special Museum event for children with autism spectrum or sensory processing disorders. The Museum will limit capacity, turn down sounds and lights, and provide adaptive equipment to offer a safe and fun experience for all! These programs are sponsored by the Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way and are free for participants. This event is recommended for all ages and registration is required. Join the LCM and Union County Historical Society at the Dale Engle Walker House to learn all about aerodynamics. What forces work to keep airplanes in the sky? Explore and make your own flyers and paper airplanes. Special guest Brian Benfer will fly in for a visit! Program recommended for children 5 and up and their caregivers. Registration required. Stream Study Saturday: Saturday, September 30, 10 am-12 pm
Did you know that fresh water sources are home to thousands of different plant and animal species? Learn more at Stream Study Saturday, September 30 from 10 am- 12 pm, at the Buffalo Creek in Mifflinburg. Union County Conservation District, Merrill Linn Conservancy, and National Geographic educators will lead children in learning and exploring about stream ecosystems and the many aquatic organisms that live within them. This program is an interactive outdoor learning adventure, so children should dress accordingly for exploring water and getting wet (rain boots suggested). Program is recommended for children ages 6 and up. Drop off is available. To participate in drop-off, kindergarten completion is required. Program will be held at Buffalo Creek in Mifflinburg. Let's Go Fly a Kite! Saturday, October 7, 10am-12pm
'Let's Go Fly a Kite' will include a kite flying demonstration by the Historical Society, the opportunity to fly some provided kites, and a kite making craft. This program is a collaboration between the Lewisburg Children's Museum and the Union County Historical Society. It will be held at the Dale Engle Walker Property in Lewisburg on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:00am - 12:00pm. Register here
Circle of Music, Mondays in October
‘Circle of Music’ will include singing, playing age-appropriate instruments, movement, listening, creative musical play, and integrated children’s literature. This class is sponsored by the Central Oak Heights Association and recommended for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers. Classes run Mondays, October 2- October 23 (4 sessions). Two session times are available: 0-2 year olds: 9:00 am-9:45 am, and 3-5 year olds: 10:00 am-10:45 am. This camp is sponsored by the Central Oaks Heights Association. The cost is $20 per child. Le Francais en Familie, Oct. 21, Nov. 4, and Nov. 11, 9am-10am
Study French “en famille” with the Lewisburg Children’s Museum and Bucknell University’s Department of Languages, Cultures, & Linguistics. Families will join French speakers as they explore the Museum and learn the basics of the French language and culture. Topics include: basic greetings, thematic vocabulary exposure, and simple phrases. Program recommended for families with children 3-8 years old. The cost is being covered by the Bucknell University Department of Languages, Cultures, and Linguistics. Registration is required, but free to attend. admission to the Museum is not included.
