Location: Lewisburg Children’s Museum, Lewisburg, PA
Job Purpose: The Visitor Services Manager (VSM) will ensure that museum guests have a safe and enjoyable experience from the moment they enter the double green doors until they leave again. This role acts as shift supervisor delegating tasks to student workers, ensuring museum floor is regularly monitored, troubleshooting POS system as needed, scheduling parties and field trips, tracking memberships, answering guest phone calls, emails, and in person questions.
Work Schedule: 20 hours per week; Ability to work at least 4 weekend days per month required.
Essential Responsibilities:

Oversee of the museum’s Floor Staff and ensure museum safety and security

Communicate with guests and assist with coordinating party rentals

Maintain and manage Museum memberships

Basic to proficient computer skills needed with the ability to be trained on Point of Sale, G-Suite, and membership database software

Ability to pass Child Abuse History, Criminal Background Check, and FBI Background Check
Customer Service and Museum Supervision
-
Greet and check-in guests; process and troubleshoot all types of transactions; answer admission and membership questions

Supervise and delegate tasks to part-time floor staff and volunteers; monitor the exhibit floor and assist with regular walk-throughs

Perform opening/closing procedures, such as cleaning and cashing out the register
Event and Rental Scheduling

Schedule party rentals and museum rentals, and coordinate customer payments

Send follow-up, confirmation, and evaluation emails and answering inquiries
Guest Communications

Assist with maintaining LCM general information account by responding to inquiries regarding the Museum

Review and record LCM orders and sales via Point of Sale (POS)

Distribute evaluations for classes, programs, parties, field trips, and general visitation; follow up with evaluators when appropriate; share appropriate feedback

Distribute donation requests, including receiving and evaluating donation requests for guest passes; answer questions via email, in person and on the phone about LCM donation policies; and process approved requests and mail letters and passes as needed
Membership Program

Maintain and manage Museum Membership program in Little Green Light Database: tracking new and renewing memberships; send Membership welcome emails and reminder emails; and add new members to subscriber list

Work directly with members to answer inquiries and facilitate solutions.

Develop and maintain regular reporting systems. Analyze statistical reports for membership revenue. Work with Director Experience and Engagement to implement retention and acquisition strategies
Other Administrative Duties

Inventory and order office and operational materials and supplies
- Prepare the monthly staff schedule for the Executive Director

Assist in oversight of RAIN Point-of-Sale system

Track and analyze data on guest visitation; regularly report the number of visitors who utilize Museums for All access program

Recommend improvements/maintenance/acquisition of new exhibits and overall museum maintenance and/or capital expenditures, sourcing appropriate operating, programming & special event supplies within budget
