Please note, effective January 1, 2023, field trip/group visits will be $6 per child.

The Lewisburg Children's Museum is a fun and educational place to visit with your class and large group. Field trips to the LCM are self guided. Teachers and students should feel free to explore, play, and learn at their own pace. Our exhibits focus on a number of themes including Pennsylvania history and wildlife, space and science, and health and nutrition- just to name a few.

  • Field trips are available on Tuesdays (availability is temporarily adjusted to accommodate COVID-19 guidelines)
    • 9:00 am-11:00 am or 11:30 am-1:30 pm
    • Please note that if your group is less than 80 children, it may be combined with another group.
  • Advance reservations for groups are required (Minimum: 2 weeks)

  • LCM can accommodate group reservations of up to 100 children and adults on Tuesdays at a group rate of $6.00 per child.

    • We can accommodate groups of less than 20 children for a flat field trip fee of $120.00.

    • A minimum of one adult chaperone for every 10 children is required; there is no admission cost for supervising chaperones

    • Field trips may be booked other days, dependent upon Museum availability at $6 per person (child AND chaperones); Field trips booked on non-Tuesdays are not eligible for a Discovery Workshop add-on or free chaperones.
  • LCM does not have indoor/outdoor group picnic facilities. No eating or drinking is permitted in the museum. The museum has an open courtyard, which guests are welcome to picnic in. There are also picnic options in Hufnagle Park located in downtown Lewisburg, which is a short walk from the museum.

Discovery Workshops

Field Trip Discovery Workshops are available as an add-on experience. Discovery Workshops are held during your two-hour self-guided field trip and are 20-30 minutes long, serving 5-10 children at a time with a LCM educator. Discovery Workshops are available to groups of up to 40 children from Pre-K to elementary level. Discovery workshops can also come to your classroom. Contact us to learn more.

Our hands-on experiences are highly engaging, emphasizing exploration and discovery over explanation. Collaborative work and peer-to-peer learning are encouraged. Activities support auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learners.

2022-2023 Discovery Workshop Options

Balance: We balance all the time, even without realizing it. Learn about the science of balance by exploring and manipulating the placement of weight in toys, structure, and in our own bodies

Light & Shadow: Our sense of sign relies on the presence of light. Experiment with light and explore the ways that light interacts with objects to create shadows, reflections, and more.

Wind: Air is everywhere—but how do we know it exists if we can’t see it? Experiment with air and explore the ways that an invisible substance can produce visible effects.
