Strictly Ballet's “Get into Character” Ballet Dance Camp
Time & Location
About The Event
In “Get into Character” Ballet Dance Camp you’ll dance, make-believe, and create. Each day starts with a ballet based movement class, then we’ll read a classic ballet story where we’ll discover the character of the day. We’ll “Get into Character” and learn how to portray the character by dancing to it’s music, learning its body language, and using acting skills. We’ll finish the day with a craft. Students will create the character using costume materials and will be guided through ballet stage make-up application (both on paper). Parents are invited on the last day at 3:15 to watch the characters come to life.
No dance experience is necessary to participate, but dancers are welcome and will learn something new! Participants need to wear athletic clothing they can move in (no jeans, zippers, dresses) and socks to dance in (if you have them—ballet clothes are fine!) Hair should be pulled back and secured off their face and neck. Bring a water bottle and small snack. Activities will be about 50 minutes each with a 10 minute break between each one.
Full day camp option: Bring a packed lunch and combine this camp with LCM’s DiscoverE: Engineering 101 camp. Eat lunch at the LCM from 12-12:30 and then have an extra 30 minutes of supervised play before attending the “Get into Character” Ballet Dance Camp in the auditorium.
