Design A Toy Camp

Design your own toys! In this workshop, explore how to bring fun toy ideas to life through curiosity, imagination, and creativity. Each day, young designers will leave with a toy they have designed and built. They will explore a variety of construction materials (paper, cardboard, wood, fabric, etc.), while also tinkering with several types of traditional toys (robots, plushies, construction, etc.). Throughout the camp, children will work collaboratively and individually. Drop off is available. Recommended for ages 7 and up.

Drop off may begin no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Children should be picked up promptly at the end.

COVID-19 Specific Camp Procedures:

The Lewisburg Children’s Museum is committed to the health and safety of our guests. As we embark on an unprecedented camp season, it is our top priority to continue mitigating the risk of the spread of COVID-19 while also recognizing the need to safely return to activities, promoting both the physical and mental well-being of the children we serve.

The following considerations have been implemented in our summer camp 2020 plan to ensure a healthy and safe camp environment for all campers, their families, and our staff.

  • Staff has been trained on both CDC and PA Department of Health guidelines as to maintain a healthy and safe environment.

  • Camp pick up and drop off will remain contactless and be held at Door #5 of the Museum entrance

    • Staff members will be present for both drop off and pick up at this space.

    • Caregivers will not be permitted to enter the museum.

    • Caregivers and staff will self-report daily symptoms (fever, cough, or shortness of breath) regarding COVID-19.

      • Screenings will be documented.

  • A staff member or child who becomes sick with COVID-19 symptoms, tests
positive for COVID-19, or has been exposed to someone with a confirmed or suspected case will not be permitted to attend camp.

    • Should a camper or staff member exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 during the camp day, an isolation area will be designated until a caregiver is able to arrive for pick up.

    • Additional camp members and staff will be notified immediately.

    • CDC protocols for cleaning and disinfecting after any suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 will be observed

  • Camp capacity has been reduced by 50%.

  • Camps will include the same group members each day, limiting the number of individuals campers interact with.

  • All camp staff are required to wear cloth face coverings during summer camp operations.

  • Per CDC and PA Department of Health guidelines, and to protect other campers and staff, older campers are required  to wear a cloth face covering, especially when indoors.

  • Campers will be spaced apart and any shared materials will be limited.

  • Sunscreen must be applied prior to drop off.

  • Campers will have a designated space for their personal belongings, such as a water bottle, which should be labeled with camper’s name. Campers should refrain from bringing toys and electronics. Snacks are permissible if there is a dietary or medical reason and should be labeled.

  • All campers must practice proper handwashing upon entry of the museum, during restroom breaks, and frequently throughout the camp.

  • Soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, tissues, disinfectant wipes and no touch trash cans will be adequately supplied and utilized.

  • Museum staff will continually clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
